5R Meats & More is a retail market under that of Runnels Farms. Here at Runnels Farms we are a self-sustained beef cattle, hog and grain farm that is owned and operated in its entirety by us, the Runnels Family. Being 7th generation cattle and hog producers, growing and finishing proteins has become 2nd nature to us. Kirk and Sandy were both born and raised on their families’ farms in southwest Missouri and after getting married in 1978 they planted their roots on the Gresham land in Jasper, Missouri where Kirk’s mother’s family farmed and ran animals for many years. It was there that they raised their three children, of whom were all involved in agriculture and their farming operation. Their two daughters currently reside in Kansas City, Missouri and Fort Worth, Texas and their son Clay decided to continue the family tradition by owning and operating Runnels Farms with his parents right out of high school.

In 2009 Clay married Allie Massa from Liberal, Missouri who was also born and raised on a beef cattle farm of which focused primarily on raising registered Angus and Simmental breeding stock. Allie showed cattle growing up and her passion for agriculture led her to pursue a degree in Agriculture Education at Missouri State University. Right out of college she taught agriculture and was an FFA Advisor for 6 years before her and Clay found out they were expecting twin daughters, it was then that they decided she would stay home and raise their three kids and help on the farm when needed.

As you see, their families seem to come in groups of 5 and that is where the “5R Meats & More” name originated. With agriculture embedded deep in all their bones they have always had a passion for the farm. Above the importance of the farm, is the importance of family, and being able to work alongside their parents and children is simply icing on the cake.

They believe there is no better way to instill a hard work ethic and love for the land and all that God has provided than on the farm. Their kids see the blood, sweat and tears that go into what their family does every day on the farm. The next generation of Runnels kids have started showing livestock and are right there in the depth of it all. They are there for every moment whether it be working or feeding animals, tending to newborn animals, or working the market. They are led to understand that they are working for the greater good of humanity by serving others with their God given talents to supply them with safe, healthy proteins. The Runnels Family loves sharing their love for agriculture and is always up for conversation entailing the day to day on the farm.
