Our Practices

We run a 250 head cow/calf herd where we specialize in breeding our Angus and Simmental based cattle for an abundance of marbling and muscle. We like to say it takes almost three years from the time the calf is conceived until the steak hits your plate. We take a lot of pride in our genetics and plan each mating responsibly as each animal that is born on our farm either goes back into our herd as breeding stock, sold to others as breeding stock or will end up as a superior protein on your plate. Our animals are made to grow well on grass and thrive in our environmental conditions. Once our calves are weaned we gently transition them from depending on their mother to survive to being able to independently grow on grass and feed on their own. Once they hit appropriate age and size, they are transitioned into our feeding facility where they efficiently convert grain into meat.

Our goal is to do this in the most efficient manner for the animals as well as the environment with as little waste and carbon footprint as possible. As for our pork division we currently purchase crossbred high yielding feeder pigs from a neighbor and finish them on a grain diet. They are in a controlled environment where they are always kept comfortable.

Our feeding facility for our cattle and our hogs were carefully planned and built with the purpose of keeping manure out of our streams and keeping cattle comfortable in all weather conditions. It is because of these well thought out feeding facilities that we are able to better utilize regenerative practices by collecting the animal manure and utilizing it as fertilizer for our pastures and crop fields. We practice conservation tillage on our crop ground by utilizing no-till drilling leaving less of a carbon footprint. Our goal at the end of each harvest is to have a healthier, more fertile soil than we did the year before. Because we grow our own crops that we feed to our animals you can be guaranteed that they are eating the safest, freshest feed possible.
